Foam Suppression Fire System

Foam is used whenever there is a possibility of a liquid fire. The Foam will mix with water and then
expand over the liquid that is on fire, cool the fire, and will finally suffocate it. Foam is also available for
the protection of hydrocarbon fuels and polar solvent fuels such as ethanol. Foam systems come with
variety types of foam including low expansion, medium expansion and high expansion foam.
In Imen Fidar, Bladder Tank and Foam Pump Package are two main types of Foam Suppression Fire
System which supply the preliminary pressure of system. The mentioned systems are applicable in

Class A foams
Class A foam is a mechanically generated aggregation of bubbles having a lower density than
water. The foam is made by introducing air into a mixture of water and foam concentrate.
The Class A foam concentrates for use in a variety of firefighting .
Class B foams
Class B foams are designed for class B fires (flammable liquids). Class B foams have two
major subtypes.
Synthetic foams:
  • Aqueous film forming foams (AFFF)
  • Alcohol-resistant aqueous film-forming foams (ARAFFF)
Protein foams:
  • regular protein foam (P)
  • fluoroprotein foam (FP)
  • film-forming fluoroprotein (FFFP)
  • alcohol-resistant fluoroprotein foam (AR-FP)
  • alcohol-resistant film-forming fluoroprotein (ARFFFP).
